grace turns 10 …

My daughter Grace turned 10 last week … and I still can’t believe how quickly a decade can pass by!

It was a very exciting birthday because there are certain privileges that a 10 year girl in our family can now enjoy.

Privilege # 1 – getting ears pierced – check!
Privilege # 2 – having a mobile phone – check!
Privilege # 3 – drinking a cup of tea – check!
Privilege # 4 – slumber party – check!

Here she is talking to my Mum on her new iPhone … one very happy girl!

And a birthday wouldn’t be complete without some artwork from Mum … I came up with 10 words that are encouraging and inspiring … each one also has it’s dictionary definition in the petal.

dream girl …

I’ve been working on another canvas … and decided this time to start with the dictionary collage face … I’ve added texture paste to her hair, the yellow polka dot dress with some Tim Holtz trim and of course a princess needs some pearls … the crown is clipart printed onto patterned paper … spritzed with some Glimmer Mist.

art for work …

I’ve been spending a lot of time at the studio lately … painting mainly … black and red.

I have always wanted to make something artful for our family business.

Now I have … it hangs in the dressing room … and I really like it.

I found a stack of black Dell keyboards collecting dust at work (because we all use white keyboards now) and just had to use them!

I have had the mdf word create for a few years and while looking for it I found some black spraypaint …. I’ve never played with spraypaint before and boy did I love it.

And then I saw someone spraypaint a letterbox black on foxtel … and realised that I could do that. And I did! It needs another coat still, but I love my new black letterbox.

wordart …

In the past week I have worked on this canvas. I had a few components sitting around the studio and decided to put them all together. The central believe canvas was made, and my 9 year old daughter said “it doesn’t catch my attention” .. and I was a bit sad. She was right though, so I mounted in on another pink canvas that I prepared by the pool last summer. And now, I really like it.
