moleskine journal …

A few pages from my moleskine journal ..

.. here I played with a friends watercolour crayons … so many beautiful colours!

And here with the watercolour pencils …

I thought a bit more colour was needed …

I bought some cheap watercolour paints for the kids .. but couldn’t resist playing with them myself!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Easter Break!!

babushka doll …

I’ve been thinking about drawing my own little babushka doll and when I (finally) got some Pitt Pens I was ready. Of course I loved drawing the little face .. but it was so much fun playing with the watercolour pencils.

I’m still obsessed with drawing eyes … even though I took a drawing class and I know that my proportions aren’t correct … I feel that it’s okay … these are my girls and they’re a bit quirky!!

drawing class … lesson 3

I can’t believe how quickly this year is going already!! I guess the fact that I’m working three days a week now (instead of just one) means that life is so much busier!

We had the lovely Grace sit for us last week … and we worked on shading. I really struggled with her right arm (as you can see) but with Chris’ guidance I think I sorted it out.

drawing class .. lesson 2

Tonight we focused on features … eyes, nose mouth …

first … a warm up exercise …

then .. a new way to draw eyes .. using lines … I really love this idea …

first practise …

and then the hour long session … This drawing actually looks like Anthony … who sat for us tonight … and I think it is an improvement on last week! Thanks Chris!!

drawing class …

Last night was my first drawing class with Chris Dewar.

I have a little drawing tin (thanks Erin!) … and my moleskine journal which I love!!

Chris showed us some techniques using gesture marks … I struggled with the concept a little … and although this doesn’t look like the beautifully aged Cecily that sat for us … this is still my interpretation … and I thought I would be brave and share it … (it’s part of the creative journey) …
