I have had so much fun and so many ideas during this Art Journal Every Day process … today I played with some spray paint …

I love playing with texture and old dress patterns are so cool … and spray paint is so much fun … need to get some more colours!!

I visited my mother’s house the other day and as I was driving down the drive I noticed for the first time some beautiful roses.

The smell they have is absolutely divine!! and I was able to take one home …

My zebra coffee cup was sitting on my studio table .. so I decided to draw it.

Some days I have no confidence at all in my creative journey … today was such a day.

My son Jamie loves to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory … and I often find myself singing the song Candyman … I’ve written the lyrics over the top of the lollipop.

One of my blog readers .. Altered Expression .. asked me this morning if I was a self taught artist. The answer is yes .. but I was so excited to be called an artist. I guess I struggle with titles … but maybe now I can call myself an artist. I find that I still tell people that I’m into photography … rather than “I’m a photographer” … I’m going to make a mental note to change that. I am a photographer and an artist!!

So I thought that today I should draw a lady and I’ve used one of Donna Downey’s stamps which feels very relevant today.

And today I customised my blog a little bit … I’ve used some of my favourite work and the *iTkUpiLLi* typewriter digital collage sheet.

I subscribe to the Cloth, Paper, Scissors newsletter and this morning I saw a preview to the Collage, Fast and Furious DVD and I recognised the name Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. I’ve watched this preview before and I never made the connection … I am currently participating in Art Journal Every Day because of Julie. I think Julie is fantastic … she has a great style and a great personality for teaching!

So today I thought I would try out this technique that Julie shares in the preview … a thick layer of gesso and I ran a plastic fork through it for texture. When it was dry I rubbed my watercolour crayons around and blended the colours. I cut out the word beach from an old dictionary, a rub-on bird that reminded me of the seagull, and added some journalling. I love trying new things!!
